Essence of Galicia

Located at the entrance to the Ria de Pontevedra fiord, it´s the second most big island of the National Park, being 7 km long and one and a half km wide.

The western side watches over the ocean from its rocky high cliffs. The harshness of the sea and the wind is felt with stunning strength.

On the eastern side, the island slopes softly to the ria´s sea ending up in fine sand beaches here and there with crystal clear water. A couple of tiny villages are spread on this side of the Island.

There are Several pathways you can follow to visit the lighthouse (one of the highest ranged in Spain), or  O buraco do inferno (“Hell´s hole), said to be in fact the real entrance to hell.

There are no roads and transportation. At the port you can enjoy some superb local dishes like octopus stew ( caldeirada de polbo ). Try it at “Casa Chechu´s” terrace…marvellous
